Private Direct Investments Direct investments are private market transactions in which we make a debt or preferred stock or other equity investment in a business expecting to receive a cash return and, generally, additional upside if the business performs according to our projections. For private debt investments, we look for inefficiently-financed situations in which we can facilitate a recapitalization, or situations in which traditional institutional financing is not available. In private debt and equity investments, we typically look for businesses with substantial franchise value, healthy cash flow, and strong management teams with aligned incentives. When we find a company that meets these standards, we work hard to secure a transaction and are flexible in the way we invest capital. We are willing to take minority equity stakes in the companies in which we invest. We have been active investors in a number of industries including financial services, healthcare, energy and infrastructure. We make direct investments in developed and developing markets alike, including the United States, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Back to Investment Objective and Strategies |
